Eugene Moore, 61, of Kenton died Dec. 27, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Services were private and cremation was arranged by Heavenly Gates Funeral Home.
He was born Oct. 30, 1946, in Sardis, Miss., son of the late Jimmy A.C. and Emma (Suggs) Moore. He grew up in Obion and entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966, earning an honorable discharge and decoration for his service in 1970.
He was married to the former Vivian White, who survives, for 36 years and they made their home in Kenton. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Greer Chapel United Methodist Church and of County Line Masonic Lodge No. 68. He was also involved in many community, civic and political activities.
He had been employed at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Union City and had operated an asphalt paving business.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Jeff Wilkes of Martin and Gaylon Moore of Pilgrim, England; his daughter, Sopherina Moore of Nashville; six grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Jean Brown of Decatur, Ill.; four sisters and his brother-in-law, Elizabeth and John Williams of Chicago, Martha Brown of Trenton, N.J., Cordie Gee of Sardis and Karen White of Kenton; his mother-in-law, Anna Laura White Chambers of Kenton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki Williams.
