Bridal parties held for Miss Calhoun Two parties were held recently honoring Niki Calhoun of Troy, bride-elect of Chris Ogden of Union City. Miss Calhoun is the daughter of Kay Calhoun of Troy and the late Tommy Calhoun. She is the granddaughter of the late Alton and Judson Pierce and the late James Calhoun and Margie Chessor, all of Union City. Ogden is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Ogden of Union City. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ted Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hinson, all of Union City. BRIDAL TEA A bridal tea was held at CBK in Union City. Hostesses for the event were Deica Disney and Susie Muse, both of Troy, Gail Johnson of Samburg and Sherri Muse and Susan Armour, both of Union City. The honoree and her guests were served sausage balls, ham cakes, fruit and vegetables with dip, cocktail sausages, bread pieces and spinach dip, strawberry punch and wassail tea. A two-tier cake, made by Mattie Fowlkes of Union City, was served for dessert. A festive Christmas theme was used with a decorated tree of ornaments and fresh flowers. The tables were adorned with beautiful fresh flowers atop a variety of candle sticks, intertwined with Christmas silks. They were arranged by Wendey Kennedy of Troy. Miss Calhoun chose a black turtleneck sweater with a black/white plaid gored skirt and black suede boots. She was presented a corsage by the hostesses. She received a computer desk as a gift from the hostesses. Special guests attending were the mothers of the bridal couple and Retha Ogden and Lois Hinson, grandmothers of the groom-elect. Out-of-town guests included LeeAnn Witherspoon, sister-in-law of the bride-elect, and Kristen Witherspoon and Korbin Witherspoon, both nieces of the bride-elect, all of Centerville. RECIPE SHOWER A recipe shower was held at the Obion County Courthouse. Hosting the event were Laura Thomason, Lori Seals and Kathy Robertson, all of Union City. A Christmas theme was used. Guests were treated to various finger foods, cake and strawberry punch. Each guest presented the honoree with their favorite recipe and items, including baking pans, ingredients and spices, used in the baking process. Miss Calhoun chose a red sweater with black dress pants and black leather boots. The special guest was the mother of the bride.
