Wednesday night, Dec. 19, we met at 6 p.m. Our youth were practicing for their program; the adults went caroling. Later, we had a time of fellowship and exchanging of presents. We finally were told who our secret sister was. It was a good evening.
On this Lord’s Day, we had a good attendance. Bro. Hugh led us in singing “Away in a Manger.” He then read from today’s lesson, “Celebrating the Savior’s Birth,” Luke 2:1-7. Belated happy birthday to Marshall McClure and happy anniversary to Danny and Patsy Casey. Happy birthday this week to Maryann Nesbitt and happy anniversary to Gath and Dede Meeks.
During the worship hour, Bro. Hugh led us in singing “O Come All Ye Faithful.” “Joy to the World” played while our youth came in. Lauren Smethwick sang “My Christmas List.” Lauren and Kelly Meeks sang “The First Noel.” Natalie McClure and Grace Laws sang “I Saw Three Ships.” Garrison Smith, Houston Smethwick and Dustin McClure sang “We Three Kings.” Maegan Smith sang “O Little Town of Bethlehem” (backed with the choir). The choir sang, “Silent Night,” “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” and “Go Tell It On the Mountain.” Lauren sang “Do You Know What I Know?” The group completed the program by singing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” They were given a standing ovation. We witnessed the birth of some great talent today. They did a great job. Kerry voiced the closing prayer. We were then dismissed to the fellowship hall for some snacks and finger food. We appreciated all our visitors today. We thank those that worked so hard with our youth.
In the evening service, we sang a lot of Christmas carols. We then had a time of prayer request. Scripture reading was from Matthew 2:10-12. During the time of invitation, we went to each other and told them that we loved them and wished them a merry Christmas. Dewey voiced the closing prayer.
There will be no Wednesday evening service.
From all of us, we wish each one a very Merry Christmas!
