Marvin Laird The Messenger. 12.27.07 Completed arrangements are being announced for Marvin James Laird, 93, of South Fulton, who died Dec. 25, 2007, in Jackson at Maplewood Health Care Center. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Obion County Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Buck Carroll officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for services. There will be no visitation. Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton is in charge of arrangements. He was born Jan. 24, 1914, in Fulton, son of the late William Arthur and Adell Frances “Della” (Newton) Laird. He was a retired farmer and had been a bus driver for the Obion County School System. He was also the former sales manager for Obion County Memorial Gardens and Pleasant View Memorial Gardens in Fulton. He had lived in this area most of his life. Survivors include his son, Jerry R. Laird of Jackson; two daughters, Deborah Lloyd of Georgetown, Ky., and Sandra Miller of Memphis; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
