Drug charges filed

A Dyer County woman was charged with drug-related offenses during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon in Union City.
Tamara Lee Mitchell, 35, of 1780 Newbern Roellen Road, Dyersburg, was arrested at 3:28 p.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of North Clover Street on charges of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana) and driving on a revoked or suspended license, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Ms. Mitchell was stopped a few minutes earlier when a police officer who was traveling northbound on Clover Street noticed a rear brake light was not functioning on a vehicle in front of him. A check of Ms. Mitchell’s driver’s license showed it was suspended for failure to satisfy citations, resulting in her arrest, police reported.
During a search of the vehicle, police found a zippered pouch with a clear bag containing white powder that field tested positive for meth, a clear bag containing a green leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana and a small baggy that had white residue inside, according to the report.
