CBK — one of the country’s leading wholesalers of quality home décor, gifts and accessories — has announced the addition of Jerry Foreman in the newly-created position of VP of Merchandising and Marketing.
Terry Stewart, president of CBK, announced the appointment.
Foreman brings a unique blend of experience in retail, marketing, strategy development and numerous other areas, company officials said. Most recently, he served as the EVP of merchandising, inventory planning and allocation, marketing and purchasing for CPI/PCA International in Charlotte, N.C.
His broad background also includes new business development and marketing for Shop At Home Network, general manager and director for Worldworks and president and chief operating officer of Retailer Services Inc., a division of Ingram Industries. Additionally, he spent over 20 years of his career at Service Merchandise and worked his way up through numerous advancements to the position of vice president of merchandising.
Foreman’s enthusiasm for home décor throughout his career and broad experience in merchandising and marketing will bring a new level of expertise to CBK, according to company officials.
“We are excited to have someone with Jerry’s wealth of knowledge and experience in the home decor industry,” Stewart said.
In the newly-created position, Foreman will have overall responsibility for the marketing and product development functions. He will provide strategy based on market-driven data, identifying the customer needs while building on the foundation of CBK.
Foreman’s combination of category expertise in buying, merchandising, marketing and senior level management experience will drive CBK’s strategic vision.
“The people who are part of CBK have built a company to be proud of,” Foreman said. “Joining this team and answering the challenges Terry Stewart has given me on the team’s behalf promises to be the most exciting and rewarding position of my career.”
Foreman has led multiple product development improvements, resulting in profitable growth throughout his extensive career. His broad based background will enhance the market-driven product development at CBK, along with a coordinated marketing strategy.
Foreman joins CBK as the company continues its focus on the independent channel through offering new, trend-right home décor and gift merchandise that is in stock and available to ship, the Diamonds Rewards Program, along with numerous other customer programs and a sales force of 180 associates delivering a high level of customer service at the retail store level.
“We are committed to offering our customers the latest trends in the marketplace, the highest quality product, at marketable price points,” Stewart said.
Foreman reaffirmed this focus. “I am excited and energized about the opportunity to join the CBK team in its mission to support the independent retailer by delivering support and growth in all aspects of our business relationships,” he said.
Serving the independent channel through market-based research and product improvements are the focus of the company’s strategic plan for 2008 and beyond. CBK understands the importance of meeting the ever-evolving needs of their customers, such as a minimum of four new product releases throughout the year, including January’s product release of over 1,100 new items. Over 95 percent of the new items are exclusive to CBK.
CBK’s product managers travel extensively to design and develop unique product for the independent retailer. CBK is constantly searching the globe to find unique sources for product not found in mass merchant retailers.
“The foundation of our business is the independent retail channel and our goal is to provide product and services to allow our customers to differentiate their product offering,” Stewart said. “Constantly energizing our product assortment with new and unique products is the key to our success that Jerry will help build upon.”
Foreman added, “CBK is a rare gem in the world of business today. CBK deeply cares about its customers and team members. It has a heritage of innovation and leadership in the industry and they are successful because of these attributes. I can think of no better place to take the next step in my career and make a contribution to the foundations that have so carefully been built here.”
