Obion County beef producers
Beef cattle producers in Obion, Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, Lauderdale and Tipton counties recently completed a 10-session, five-week Master Beef Producer Course in Dyersburg.
The Master Beef Producer program is an educational opportunity designed to provide information to Tennessee cow-calf producers to help them be the very best in the country, improve their profitability and position the industry to be competitive with other states. During the course, University of Tennessee Extension specialists and local Extension agents covered the following topics: managing and planning for success, marketing, developing genetics to the needs of the industry, carcass merit, feeding the beef herd, forage production, reproduction in beef cattle, herd health, cattle handling and behavior, environmental concerns for beef producers, food safety and management of the beef herd.
A total of 70 producers participated in the clinic and received a certificate of completion for the Master Beef Producer Program sponsored by UT Extension Service.
Obion County beef cattle producers who recently participated in the annual Master Beef Producer training sessions in Dyersburg included Michael Sharpe, Larry Albright, Lyn Barnes, Bobby Berner, Bryan Cranford, Claude Cranford, Lyn Maloney, David Simrell, Kent Dial, Rance Hooper, Scott Cunningham, Doug Davis, Dickie Jacobs, Steve Muse, Nick Parker, O’Neil Baker, Brad Woody and Melanie Dial.
Producers also received a Master Beef Producer cap and sign to place on their farm designating them as a Master Beef Producer.
