A Weakley County teenager was charged after his vehicle struck a light pole in the vacant parking lot of a Union City shopping center.
Zachary N. Bell, 16, of Martin was charged with reckless driving following an incident shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday on the County Marketplace parking lot at 1700 West Reelfoot Ave., according to a Union City Police Department report.
Bell told police he was “doing doughnuts,” a maneuver in which a vehicle moves in circles, on the vacant lot when he lost control of his 2000 Ford Mustang and hit a light pole. Police reported there was no visible damage to the pole, but the front of the car sustained extensive damage, according to photos attached to the police report.
