Completed funeral arrangements have been announced for Doris Jean Banks, 74, of Iowa City, Iowa, a native of Kenton, who died Dec. 20, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Kenton, with the Revs. Willie Pounds and John Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in West Side Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until the hour of services Wednesday at the church.
Rawls Funeral Home in Union City is in charge of arrangements.
She was born July 22, 1933, in Kenton, daughter of the late Elex and Nannie (Akins) Banks.
She was a member of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Ollie Kirksey of Iowa City; a granddaughter, Felicia Kirksey of Iowa City; a grandson, Brandon Kirksey of Knoxville; a great-grandson, Elijah Kirksey of Knoxville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Minnie and John Mays of Kenton and Joann Lancaster of Dyer; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Henry and Doris Banks, Harold and and Pearl Banks and Robert Banks, all of Kenton, and Willie and Evie Banks of Chicago; and two aunts, Etucka Ford of San Diego and Helen Taylor of Los Angeles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgia Ann Banks.
