Checkpoints slated

The Union City Police Department will conduct two sobriety checkpoints New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
The first location will be on East Reelfoot Avenue in front of the National Guard armory from 11 p.m. Dec. 31 to 1 a.m. Jan. 1, while the second location will be on West Reelfoot Avenue in front of County Marketplace from 1-3 a.m. Jan. 1.
The activity is being held in conjunction with the police department’s participation in the “Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving” enforcement effort.
