|Despite the ever-approaching holiday season, Black Oak did not want to be on the receiving end Thursday night. |
However, Ridgemont made sure it handed out a pair of gift-wrapped drubbings with the boys taking a 45-18 triumph and the girls downing the Lady Eagles 36-20 in the opener.
In the girls’ jayvee game, R’mont held a 14-8 lead at halftime en route to the 16-point victory.
Meanwhile, during the nightcap, Eric Torres accounted for 10 points and was pesky on defense with seven steals in the Mustangs’ triumph.
In other action Thursday evening, South Fulton took a twinbill from Hillcrest with the boys victorious 53-21 and the girls a 37-19 winner.
No stats were made available from Lake Road’s doubleheader with Lake County.

R’mont takes pair vs. BO
Paige Hicks posted a game-high 17 points with six steals to lead the Lady Mustangs (9-5) in the double-digit triumph over Black Oak. Billie Preuett chipped in eight for R’mont.
For the Lady Eagles, Chelsie Pitts offered her all with 11 points, seven rebounds, five steals and three assists with teammate Morgan Quillions adding six points and eight rebounds.
In the nightcap, Michael Hussey and Christian Higgins complemented Torres’ 10-point outing with eight markers apiece for the Mustangs.
Austin Choate posted a double-double for Black Oak with 10 points and a like number of rebounds. Christopher Douglas offered five points and 10 caroms to BO’s efforts.
Both Black Oak teams fall to 0-11 and will not return to action until Jan. 10 as part of the Obion County School System’s postseason tournament.
Ridgemont returns to action Jan. 3 at Martin.
SF sweeps Hillcrest
The Devilettes led 9-3 after one, 18-4 at intermission and 26-10 with three in the books en route to the win over H’crest.
Haley McKinney was the No. 1 contributor for South Fulton’s girls (12-1) with 10 points. Teammate Marina Barclay finished a point shy of double digits with nine markers with Talaeeh Cross accumulating six points and five steals during the triumph. Cori Jo Edmison snatched a pair of steals for the victorious Devilettes.
The Lady Cougars (8-5) were paced by Tory Reedy’s seven points in the loss.
In the boys’ game, SF was ahead comfortably 24-5 after one quarter with a 32-12 halftime advantage sitting the stage for the one-sided victory.
Shaquan Brown and Chase Kane shared top gun honors for the Devils (9-4) with eight points apiece with Ryan Prince adding seven markers and five rebounds. Jacquay Garmon brought down five boards for the victors.
Bryan Morris topped the Hillcrest (2-11) scoring summary with eight points.
South Fulton plays next at Union City on Jan. 3. Both Hillcrest teams return to action Jan. 10 in the OCSS postseason tourney.
