UC couple charged

Two people were charged with drug-related offenses Tuesday after police served a search warrant at a Union City apartment.
Howard Lee Johnson, 25, and Tabitha Chambers, 27, both of 721 Sunswept Drive, Apt. 2, Union City, were each charged with possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia when they were arrested at 12:30 p.m. and 11:28 a.m., respectively, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police reported that officers served a search warrant about 10:38 a.m. Tuesday at the couple’s apartment on Sunswept Drive, where they found Ms. Chambers along with her young daughter. Johnson apparently was at work at the time.
A search yielded various drug-related paraphernalia, including a marijuana grinder, and loose marijuana inside a piece of paper, according to the report. All of the items were found in a common living area and were reported to be easily accessible to Ms. Chambers’ small children.
