SUPPORTING REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE — Dr. Richard Chesteen, University of Tennessee at Martin professor of political science, whose teaching career has spanned 45 years, recently was honored, with a retirement dinner highlighted by the launch of the Richard Chesteen Endowment for Government Internships. The Chesteen Endowment will focus on subsidizing governmental internships for students in multiple disciplines, with the goal of increasing internship opportunities in Washington, D.C. The endowment will be supported by contributions from corporations, alumni and the university community. Pictured at the dinner are (from left) Dr. Chesteen, UT?Martin Chancellor Tom Rakes, Laura Ray, of Jackson; Eli Jones, of Bells; Walker Ferrell, of Ripley; Dr. John Overby, Department of Management, Marketing and Political Science chair, and Josh Rainey, of Huntingdon. Each of the students plans an internship in Washington, D.C., during 2008.
