AARP Chapter meeting

Weakley County AARP Chapter No. 3392 met Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the Catfish Restaurant in Martin. Six members and three visitors attended.
After President Gladys Simmons called the meeting to order, prayer requests were taken. The Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. flag was recited in unison.
Woodrow Collier presented county Mayor Houston Patrick, who gave an informative update on what’s happening in Weakley County.
President Simmons read “The Story of the Candy Cane” and gave each person a copy of the story and two candy canes.
Woodrow Collier announced that Martin Mayor Randy Brundige is scheduled to speak at the Jan. 16 meeting, to be held in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church in Martin. We meet at 9:30 a.m. for fellowship and refreshments, and the meeting begins at 10 a.m. Mrs. Jerry Seamans and Mrs. Mary Kate Bell volunteered to be hostesses for the January meeting. There will not be a December meeting of the chapter.
After the November meeting adjourned, lunch was enjoyed at the Catfish Restaurant with good food and fellowship.
