A Union City man told police he was robbed Tuesday evening in the Taylor Street area of Union City.
Wallace Ward, 30, said he was taking his nightly walk down South Taylor Street shortly after 6 p.m. when he observed 10 black men walking up behind him, according to a Union City Police Department report.
He told police he started to speed up and he noticed they were gaining on him. Ward said two of the men stopped him as the others stood off to the side, not saying anything. He said both of the men had sweatshirts with hoods on and they asked him for a cigarette, at which time he informed them he does not smoke.
Ward said one of the men pulled out a black gun, put the barrel to his head and ordered him to look down, police reported. He told police he did exactly what the men said and they then asked him what he had, thus taking his black folding wallet, which contained some cash, his credit cards, his driver’s license and his Social Security card.
The men reportedly fled, heading north on Taylor Street.
