Jerry Vaughan Reams
Jerry Vaughan “Old Dawg” Reams, 73, of Ionia, Mich., died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007.
Services were held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter & Paul Church in Ionia, with Father Peter Schafer officiating. Lake Funeral Home in Ionia, Mich., was in charge of arrangements.
Reams was born Nov. 25, 1934, in Martin, son of the late Cleatus and Julia Ray Reams. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War, retired from the Michigan Reformatory after more than 26 years of service, was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, member of the Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of the Sheridan VFW. He coached baseball for several years in the Ionia Youth League and was a pitching coach for Ionia and Portland high schools.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Rosemary Reams of Ionia, Mich.; his children, Elena and Jeff Brooks of Portland, Mich., Tondra Morris and Brent Bowerman of Ionia, Jason and Tricia Reams of Ionia and Bradley Brady of California; one sister-in-law, Sue Reams; and seven grandchildren, Mary, Kahlib, Mark, Julia, Dawson, Brynn and Lilly.
He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Bobby Reams and Ted Reams; and two sisters, Betty Jean Grubb and Dorothy Jane Reams.
