2008 Weakley County Spelling Bee students participated in the annual event last Thursday
2008 Weakley County Spelling Bee — This year’s county spelling bee was held this past Thursday morning at the Board of Education building. The competition lasted for 13 rounds, but ultimately, Adrienne Martin, an eighth grader from Sharon School and last year’s county runner-up, took the victory by successfully spelling the word “tournament.” Danielle Gallimore, an eighth grader from Dresden Middle School, took the runner-up position. As runner-up, Gallimore received a trophy and $50 and as winner, Martin received a trophy and $100. All participants received medallions and certificates. As winner, Martin will now travel to compete in the Mid-South Spelling Bee which will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008 in the Al Chymia Shriners Center in Memphis.
