FOURTH-GRADE WINNERS — The annual Obion County 4-H Public Speaking Contest was recently held at Ridgemont Elementary School. There were 69 competitors in all in grades 4-10. Students placing first through third received gift certificates donated by Snappy Tomato Pizza and McDonald’s in Union City. They were also awarded Wal-Mart gift cards. Students placing first in the fifth- through eighth-grade divisions will have the opportunity to compete at the Sub-regional 4-H Public Speaking Contest in February. Winners in the fourth-grade division were (from left) first place, Adrianna Jordan of Hillcrest Elementary and daughter of Candace Jordan of Troy; second place, Emma Bruner of South Fulton Elementary and daughter of Kevin and Michelle Bruner of South Fulton; and third place, Zach Mercer of South Fulton Elementary and son of the Rev. Marvin and Sherri Mercer of South Fulton.
