Community garden built at UTM

The Soil and Water Conservation class at the University of Tennessee at Martin began work on a project that will benefit the communities in Weakley County this past fall.
The students, along with their professor, Dr. Paula Gale, constructed a Community Garden on the campus of UTM.
The garden’s main purpose is to provide fresh produce to We Care Ministries Inc. in Martin — an organization that seeks to meet the needs of the less fortunate in the community.
The garden will also offer an opportunity for the community to be involved in a project that gives back to Weakley County. The garden project will utilize volunteers to maintain the plants and help with harvest. Anyone interested in volunteering next spring and summer to help make the garden successful can contact the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at UT Martin.
