NASHVILLE (AP) — Four elementary and middle schools in Nashville were locked down Monday as police searched for an armed man in the area.
Police said Shawn Tate, 19, was taken into custody as a burglary suspect at 2 p.m., two hours after the lockdown was ordered.
Officers received a report of a man with a rifle seen nearby, but it turned out to be a BB gun.
The schools were Dodson Elementary, Tulip Grove Elementary, McGavock Elementary and DuPont Tyler Middle, which are clustered in the Hermitage area of Davidson County. All exterior doors were locked.
Tate was suspected of burglarizing homes in the area. He was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Published in The Messenger 12.18.07
