Fire damages home The Messenger. 12.17.07 A home on North Second Street in Union City was damaged by fire Friday night. The Union City Fire Department was summoned at 6:50 p.m. Friday to a house owned by Gerald Cox at 921 North Second St., with the initial report indicating that flames were showing, according to a fire department report. A second alarm was called before the first firefighters arrived on the scene and the house appeared to be fully involved by fire when firefighters arrived. The fire was reported to be under control at 7:16 p.m. and was out at 8:35 p.m., the fire department reported. The attic area of the house received extensive damage from the fire, while the living room area sustained smoke and water damage. An elderly woman who was in the house when the fire was discovered was checked at the scene after it was reported she was not feeling well. Her name was not disclosed by fire officials. |
