Fisette appointed to Fulton board

Doug Fisette has been appointed to fill out a term on the Fulton City Commission.
The need to appoint a commissioner arose recently when Fulton Mayor Eddie Crittendon resigned effective Dec. 31 to accept a position as executive director of the Fulton County/Hickman County (Ky.) Economic Development Partnership.
The remainder of his term as mayor will be filled by Elaine Forrester, a Fulton City Commission member who formerly served as mayor, effective Jan. 1. She will serve a one-year term and the mayor’s position will be on the ballot for Fulton voters in November 2008.
Fisette was unanimously chosen by the commission during its session Monday evening to fill out the remainder of Mrs. Forrester’s position as a commissioner and will also assume the duties Jan. 1. He was selected from a field of several interested citizens, according to city commissioner Mike Farmer’s online publication, Fulton Kentucky News.
Monday’s commission meeting marked Crittendon’s final session as mayor.
Crittendon, who has served as Fulton’s mayor for five years and vice mayor for two years before that, told The Messenger last month that he is excited about his new career opportunity even though he will miss being involved in city government.
