MYB classes set The Messenger. 12.07.07 The Master Your Body Exercise program will be offered again in January 2008 to anyone interested. Andy Core, exercise physiologist; Noel Tugwell, physical therapist; and Ty Tims, certified medical exercise and performance enhancement specialist, have developed this award winning exercise program. Benita Giffin, Obion County Extension agent and certified Master Your Body trainer will teach eight weeks of 16 sessions of Master Your Body exercise classes at the Obion County Public Library conference room at 1221 East Reelfoot Ave. in Union City. These classes will teach you to tone your body without using exercise equipment. “Master Your Body is fun and provides safe strength and balance training using body weight exercises. Five stations and 10 exercises use your body, the floor and gravity for resistance. You will feel your body change in 24 hours. I and other participants have lost two inches in the waist in just four sessions. Visit the Master Your Body Web site at http://fcs.tennessee.edu/masteryourbody to learn more,” Mrs. Giffin said. “If you want to become stronger and start feeling better doing everyday movements, like climbing out of bed, getting in and out of the car, walking up stairs or picking up anything, this class is for you. If you can sit on the floor and get up off the floor without assistance, you qualify as a participant. These classes require no special clothes; however, walking tennis shoes are best suited for the class. Master Your Body allows you to progress at your own pace. You can do Master Your Body wearing a suit, in a hotel room or anywhere you a have a 5-foot by 5-foot space. You will receive an MYB manual the first day of class. The Master Your Body program and manual are copyrighted. Only certified teachers may offer MYB classes,” she said. Class dates are Jan. 14, 17, 23, 24, 28 and 31; Feb. 6, 7, 11, 14, 19, 21, 25 and 27; and March 3 and 6. Classes will be 3:45-4:15 p.m. and will begin on time. Those who are running late may join in when they arrive. The fee for the 16 sessions is $48 and is non-refundable. Participants are asked to pay for classes before Jan. 14 at the Obion County Extension Office in Union City. Checks should be made payable to UT. This registration fee may also be mailed to UT Extension Office, 302 South Third St., Union City, TN 38261. For more information, call Mrs. Giffin at 885-3742. |
