Burglary charged
A Union City man has been charged with burglary and attempted burglary in connection with incidents discovered Friday at two locations on North Second Street in Union City.
Jeffrey Mack Traywick, 42, of 1795 Wade Wiley Road, Union City, was served Monday with warrants charging him with burglary and theft over $1,000 in connection with a break-in and with attempted burglary in connection with an alleged attempted break-in, according to Union City Police Department reports.
The warrants were served on Traywick at the Obion County Law Enforcement Complex. He had been charged with theft over $5,000 over the weekend in connection with the theft of a Missouri vehicle that was recovered Saturday in Union City, police reported Monday.
The burglary and theft over $1,000 charges levied against Traywick stem from an incident at a facility at 207 North Second St. in Union City, where police discovered shortly after 2 p.m. Friday that a rear door had been forcibly entered, according to a police report. Police discovered someone had entered the building and used a pry bar to pry a 42-inch Vizio flat screen television off a wall mount and had stolen the television.
The stolen television has since been recovered.
The attempted burglary charge against Traywick is in connection with an incident at Reelfoot Bearing Supply at 211 North Second St., where police had initially responded to a reported break-in Friday afternoon. Officers discovered someone had pushed all of the door pins out of the hinges and left a door lying angled in a doorway. It didn’t appear that anything had been taken, according to the report.
