Brunch held for Miss Kirkland

A brunch was held recently in the fellowship hall at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church for Christian Kirkland of Chattanooga, formerly of Union City, bride of Steven Edward Smith of Atlanta.
The bride is the daughter of Melissa Uniao and Hunter Kirkland, both of Union City. She is the granddaughter of Patricia Ann Christian of Milan, formerly of Union City, the late James Lee Christian and Louise Moss Kirkland and the late Turner Kirkland, all of Union City.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Smith of Dalton, Ga. His grandparents are Alma Grace Brewer of Jacksboro, the late Edward Smith, Ruby A. Queener of Dalton and the late Robert John Queener.
Hosting the event were Anne Graves and Beth Muse, both of Union City, and Debbie Pardue of Troy, all sisters of the honoree’s stepmother, Laurie Kirkland of Union City.
A brunch buffet, including a number of homemade cakes and casseroles, fresh fruit and punch were served.
Fresh-cut flowers decorated the party area. Tables were covered in white cloths.
Miss Kirkland chose a brown, sleeveless fitted cotton dress for the occasion. She was presented a white flower corsage with green accents.
The hostesses presented the honoree with a serving dish in her chosen china pattern.
Special guests were the mothers of the bridal couple; the honoree’s stepmother; her grandmother, Mrs. Kirkland; her sisters, Sarah Kirkland and Caitlin Kirkland, both of Union City; her stepsister, Annie Westbrooks of Union City; and her aunts, Debbie Greer of Milan and Larrabee Kirkland and Connie Fry, both of Union City.
