DTF makes major drug bust in UC

Two people were arrested on drug-related charges after investigators from the 27th Judicial District Drug Task Force and the Union City Police Department executed a search warrant Thursday at a Union City home.
The search warrant was “to find illegal drugs” at the residence, located at 504 North Third St. in Union City, according to a DTF press release.
Investigators said they knocked on the door of the home and announced their presence and intent to serve the search warrant. After receiving no signs of compliance to open the door, investigators broke in the door to gain entry to the home.
A search of the home led investigators to recover 65 grams of crack cocaine, which has an estimated street value of $13,000, and 57 grams of powder cocaine, which has an estimated street value of $5,700. If the powder cocaine was converted to crack cocaine, the value would at least triple, the DTF reported.
Also found during the search of the home were 340 grams of marijuana, digital scales and drug packaging materials, as well as evidence “that a large amount of crack cocaine had been produced and sold from the residence,” according to the DTF.
Adrian Meadows, 18, of Union City and Constance White, age not listed, of Kenton were both arrested and charged with multiple offenses as a result of the search. The charges include possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver, possession of marijuana with intent to sell or deliver, conspiracy to sell or deliver cocaine and conspiracy to sell or deliver marijuana, the DTF reported.
Other suspects are believed to be involved in the alleged drug operation and investigators are continuing to pursue the evidence in the case for at least two more suspects. Anyone who has information about the case is asked to call the Union City Police Department at 885-1515 or Crime Stoppers at 885-TIPS (885-8477). Callers should ask to speak with any investigators and they will remain anonymous. Crime Stoppers also offers cash rewards for tips that solve cases.
In a separate case, Latoya Lynn Townsend of 721 South Sunswept Drive, Apt. 4, Union City, was arrested about 12:20 a.m. today on drug-related charges stemming from an investigation of alleged drug-related activity Monday at her Parkview Manor Apartments residence.
She was one of two suspects being sought in the case after DTF and Union City police investigators found cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the apartment, police reported earlier this week.
According to a Union City Police Department report, Ms. Townsend came to the police station to turn herself in, at which time she was arrested on warrants charging her with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (cocaine) for resale, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana) for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police are still seeking Tobias Horton in connection with Monday’s incident at the South Sunswept Drive apartment, as well as Latoya Jones in connection with a separate drug-related incident Nov. 8 at another Union City residence.
