Police call woman’s report of being raped a hoax

By: AP

MARYVILLE (AP) — Maryville police say a woman faked a report about being raped after her vehicle was pulled over by a car with flashing blue lights.
Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp says while officers investigated the case, they found inconsistencies with 28-year-old Tiffany Ranee O’Connor’s story. She later recanted her report.
Officers have now charged her with filing a false report.
The woman previously told police that after her vehicle was stopped, a man wearing a mask and latex gloves approached and then raped her.
Crisp says the woman was depressed and seeking attention.
O’Connor is being held on $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 2.
