DRIVERS INJURED — Union City Fire Department personnel, including (clockwise from front left) Firefighter 1st Class Mike Killion, Lt. Tim Hopper (partially hidden), firefighter Brad Wisener and Capt. Paul Holdeman, attend to driver Tomas W. Bevis, 77, of 1017 East Florida Ave., Union City, at the scene of a two-vehicle crash that occurred about 2:55 p.m. Monday at South First and Jackson streets in Union City. According to a Union City Police Department report, Bevis was eastbound on West Jackson Street when his 1993 Buick collided with a 1994 Ford Aerostar mini-van driven by Randy S. Kryszewski, 49, of 1592 McClard Road, Union City. Kryszewski told police he was southbound on South First Street, thought he had the light and proceeded into the intersection, where his vehicle hit the driver’s side front of Bevis’ vehicle. Bevis told police he had the green light and started into the intersection when Kryszewski ran the red light and hit him. A witness told police that Bevis had the green light and the other vehicle ran it, according to the report. Both drivers sustained apparently minor injuries, police reported. Bevis was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City by Twin City Ambulance Service, which was called due to the local ambulance service already being in service elsewhere, according to fire department Capt. Jere Cook. Kryszewski was charged with a red light violation, police reported.
