The Hunter Hynds Unit of United Methodist Women held its October meeting at Stanley’s Chapel with 13 members present. President Chris Cheatham called the meting to order and led in the reading of the purpose. She also gave the prayer following requests and concerns. Lucile Thompson read the minutes, and Leanne Parnell gave the treasurer’s report.
A thank you note was read from the Winsteads. Announcements were made of the 75th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Peacock, in-laws of Roberta Peacock.
Prayer calendar was read by Becky Barnes and Sandra McTurner taken from Mark 11:12-14 and 20-24.
Devotional was read by Emily Haynes from John 21:15-17.
Leanne Parnell introduced the program, “A Pledge Service: Our Time For Mission,” written by Lynn Hanaic.
The focal image was a table covered with a white cloth, a cross, a Bible, three candles, representing not only the Trinity but also the work of United Methodist Women – yesterday, today and tomorrow. Participants on the program were Kathy Forrester, Becky Barnes and Roberta Peacock.
Linda Winstead sang “Eternal Life.”
Emily Haynes led the unit in “We’ve a Story to Tell to the Nation,” with Rosemary Coleman at the piano.
Pledges were made for missions for the upcoming year.
Mrs. Parnell closed the program with prayer.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m., Nov. 14, at Stanley’s Chapel.
