A motorcyclist sustained injury in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on West Reelfoot Avenue at Old Rives Road in Union City.
Keith Eugene Gurley, 43, of 1917 Morningview Drive, Union City, was transported by Regional Emergency Medical Services ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City following an accident that occurred about 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Robbie V. Forrester of 423 Highway 431, Martin, told police she was westbound on West Reelfoot Avenue and was going to make a left-hand turn off Reelfoot onto Old Rives Road in her 1999 Ford Taurus. She indicated she saw Gurley’s approaching 2007 Honda VC7 motorcycle, thought she could make the turn and pulled in front of Gurley, which caused Gurley to try to avoid hitting Ms. Forrester’s vehicle, according to the report. Gurley did avoid Ms. Forrester’s vehicle, but turned over, throwing Gurley off and sliding about 20 feet. Two witnesses told police that Ms. Forrester turned in front of Gurley.
Police reported that when Gurley came off the motorcycle, he landed on his left shoulder and was complaining of shoulder pain.
Ms. Forrester was charged with failure to yield the right of way, police reported.
