‘Freedom Writers’ to be shown at university

The University of Tennessee at Martin English Society and Student Activities Council will present “Freedom Writers” at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 in Watkins Auditorium of Boling University Center.
This film is based on the book “Freedom Writers Diary,” a non-fiction journal by an at-risk southern California high school English class. Starring Hillary Swank and Patrick Dempsey, the plot centers around their inspiring teacher, Erin Gruwell, and her efforts to use writing books to move her students to success.
This event is free and open to the public.
