Dresden Duplicate Bridge Club met Wednesday, Oct. 10, with four tables in play. We also met at 6 p.m. Tuesday with four tables in play.
Tuesday evening, our new bridge club had two new players, Al Pendergrass and his lovely wife, Carmen, of Martin. It was Carmen’s first time to play duplicate bridge, and she learned the intricacies in a hurry.
Some of the girls brought delicious food. Since we meet at 6 p.m., we have snacks ready for everyone to enjoy. Joann Campbell brought hot fried chicken fingers with honey mustard, Kathy Wilson brought orange muffins, nuts and grapes, and Kathy Chandler prepared Betty Crocker cookies (recipe to follow). Alma Ford brought hot vanilla almond cookies. Linda Jennings served cheesecakes with strawberry icing, and Sandra Klutts presented us with a spinach artichoke dip in a little crock-pot. Becky Bennett had made chocolate brownies with pecan icing. We also had punch, cokes, tea and coffee.
Winners for that game were Alma Ford and Pat Page in first place; Sandra Klutts, Jane Young, Carmen and Al Pendergrass in second place; and Linda Jennings and Becky Bennett in fourth place.

Artichoke Spinach Dip

Now back to our Wednesday game. We had an October Appreciation Game. This is a special game held once a year. We also celebrated Joni Martin’s birthday, which was Sept. 26, and my birthday (Toni), which was Sept. 28.
We met at 12 p.m., and everyone brought lunch food. We had stuffed loin with cranberry stuffing, shrimp on ice and cocktail sauce, fruit salad, pineapple salad, pasta salad, crab and salmon dip, spinach and orange salad, pineapple pie, chocolate raisin cookies and two birthday cakes — chocolate pecan cake and cream of chocolate cake.
Winners were Roberta Meyer and Carolyn Rogers in first place; Gerry Scholes and William Atchison, second; Dr. Tom Mayo and Toni Pritchett, third; and Jack Bogue and Jackye Hohman, fourth.
