Letters to the Editor
New dress code still a problem
To The Editor:
Enclosed please find a copy of a letter dated 9-26-07. I sent a copy of a letter to each of our Obion County School Board members Sept. 26, as well as one to Director of Schools (David) Huss. I mailed these on the following day. As of Monday, I have not had a single reply.
One would think that as a common courtesy, at least one of the board members or the director of schools would reply by letter or even look up my phone number and call me but that has not happened. I wonder why someone felt I was important enough to call and ask for my vote when they were running for office but now since I have called into question some of the policies they have enforced, I do not even deserve an answer to my questions.
It seems to me that the Obion County School Board really doesn’t care what the parents think of this new dress code.
Everywhere we go, the dress code is the topic of discussion. I have heard story after story of how the code is being enforced differently from school to school, from day to day and, sometimes, student to student. Most people I talk to believe some parts of the dress code are completely silly and being enforced without any use of common sense or concern for the children or the parents.
I would like to urge everyone that has had a problem with the dress code and its enforcement to write a letter and send it to each of the school board members. Describe the incident in detail and tell how it affected you and your child. Let them all know how you feel about it. Unless we tell them they will never hear it. Hopefully, if enough of us complain, they will address the issue and listen to the parents’ point of view, or maybe at least acknowledge we are out here.
Write them tonight.
To The Editor:
I think there was never a time as now when Americans are worried and concerned about their right to choose health care, school’s worship and free speech and all the rest of free choices — that have been ours, up until now. There are those working night and day to destroy our freedoms.
There’s nothing wrong with our schools and health care system and all the rest.
There is plenty wrong with ungodly homes that children come from that the enemy has set up against this nation through our government, gambling, drugs, alcohol and all the other evils government promotes.
Now a more Godless bunch is trying to take over.
People, wake up — freedom is a gift that blood is shed for.
Let us take a strong stand for God’s righteousness in our government, states, counties and communities. God, help us to turn back to Him in repentance confession of all the evil we have allowed to take and rule out our God of all life.
