Union City police are investigating the theft of a truck from one Union City business and the theft of a trailer from another.
An employee of Ford Construction at 2914 East Reelfoot Ave. has reported that one of the company’s pickup trucks has been stolen, according to a Union City Police Department report.
The employee told police that another employee noticed it missing Wednesday morning but thought someone may have been using the vehicle. The truck was locked and the keys were still in the business office.
The truck is a white 1997 GM pickup with a light bar on top and unit number 22-754 on both sides and the tailgate, according to the report.
In the other theft incident, an employee at McCloud Electric at 235 Westgate Drive reported Monday morning that someone stole a 16-foot tandem axle trailer from the business. The trailer is described as black with a wood floor, a McCloud Electric sign on the side and a two-inch dovetail drop, according to a police report.
The employee told police that two employees had locked the business’ gate Friday and he noticed Monday that there was no lock on the gate and it was not closed completely.
Anyone who has information about either theft is asked to contact the Union City Police Department at 885-1515 or Crime Stoppers at 885-TIPS (885-8477). Callers to Crime Stoppers are guaranteed anonymity and could earn cash rewards for tips that solve cases.
