A Kenton man was charged with two drug-related offenses when he was arrested Thursday evening outside a Union City convenience store.
Jimmy Ray Morris, 46, of 501 Tilghman St., Kenton, was arrested at 5:04 p.m. on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police had responded to 3 J’s at 1500 East Reelfoot Ave. about 5 p.m. in reference to a man who was allegedly acting suspicious. An officer reported that he observed Morris standing next to a vehicle parked at the gas pumps and that he kept standing there for a lengthy period of time. As two officers approached, one of them reported that he saw Morris “quickly shoving” something down in his pants pocket. Police asked if he had any weapons and he indicated he had two knives, according to the report.
During a patdown, police retrieved a knife from his pants pocket and were continuing to search when they discovered a small plastic bag containing a green plant material that appeared to be marijuana. A pipe was retrieved from the same pocket where the marijuana was found, police reported.
