President Gladys Simmons presided over the meeting and read a thought for the day titled “The One Flaw of a Woman.”
After prayer requests were taken, Woodrow Collier led in prayer. He gave a brief report concerning the uninsured citizens of Tennessee. He also has arranged for Dr. Nick Dunagan, retired chancellor of UTM, to be the speaker for our October meeting.
Donations were taken for the Weakley County Rescue Squad and donations will be taken for the Telethon of Stars at the October meeting.
Special speaker for this meeting was Mrs. Terri Brundige, president of BancorpSouth in Dresden. She gave an interesting and informative talk about several banking matters including FDIC insurance, IRAs and debit cards. She also warned us about check scams and showed some examples of how unscrupulous people try stealing funds. We appreciate her sharing the useful information with us.
