Morie Parnell The Messenger. 10.4.07 Morie Parnell, 98, of Kenton died Oct. 2, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at New Salem Baptist Church in Kenton, with burial following there in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 6-9 p.m. today. The Rev. Dewayne Harris will officiate and Leitherland Funeral Home in Rutherford is in charge of arrangements. She was born Dec. 28, 1908, daughter of the late Walter and Essie Lillian (Howard) Griggs. She was the widow of Hub Parnell and was a homemaker and cafeteria worker. She was a Baptist and was a member of Mason Hall Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Nelda and Ray Burton of Kenton; two grandchildren, Mark Burton of Kenton and Mechelle Tuck of Goodlettsville; and two great-grandchildren, Vinny Tuck and Max Tuck. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Alvin Griggs, her sister, Allene Bradford; and her granddaughter, Melanie Burton. |
