Lela Mae Sanders, 52, of Fulton, Ky., died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson.
Services were held 1 p.m. Monday at the United Church of the Living God in Fulton, Ky., with Margaret Pettigrew and the Rev. Tony Johnson officiating. Burial was in Greenlea Cemetery in Fulton, Ky. Heavenly Gates Funeral Home in Martin was in charge of arrangements.
Jerry Taylor, Daniel Thomas, David Dickerson, Kent Wilson, Michael Thomas and Russell Abbott served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Sanders was born Nov. 5, 1954, the daughter of the late W. P. and Mamie Morris. She was affectionately known as “Miss Piggy,” was a graduate of South Fulton High School and was employed by McDonald’s in Fulton, Ky.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane (Ronnie) of Mayfield, Ky., Elina of Hickman, Ky., and Sabrina of Union City; one stepdaughter, Lisa Gilbert of Huntingdon; three sisters, Mamie (Thomas) Foulks of Huntingdon, Dorothy Gunn of Martin and Margaret (Danny) Pettigrew Sr. of Fulton, Ky.; four brothers, Frank Morris of South Fulton, Michael Morris and Larry (Savannah) Moody, both of Chicago, Ill., and Walter Morris (Carolyn Isabell) of South Fulton; six grandchildren, Aleasha, Jonathan, Rodney, Asia, Andre and Anayah; and a special friend, Eugene Folk of Fulton, Ky.
She was also preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
