CornFest 5K | | | RUN FOR LIFE — Ada Reed Rogers, daughter of Michael and Laney Rogers (at right) of Union City, admires the trophy she has just handed Jeff Crabtree of Union City, winner of the CornFest 5K Run for a Cure. Crabtree’s time was 19:16. The 5K event, plus the Fun Run for children 12-years-old and younger, brought in more than $3,000 to be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for research into the illness that affects children and young adults. Thanks to intensive research, this former automatic childhood death sentence has now been commuted and many children with CF now live into early adulthood. Ada Reed, who will be 2-years-old next week, was diagnosed with CF more than a year ago. Published in The Messenger on 10.04.07 | | | |
