Charles William Johnson, 80, of Gleason, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Jackson.
Services were held 2 p.m. Thursday at Tumbling Creek Baptist Church, with Bro. Gene Price officiating. Burial was in Rushing Memorial Cemetery in Gleason. Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Danny Snider, Gary Doster, Dan Brooks, Reggie Wiggins, Max Orr and Mike Stafford served as pallbearers.
Johnson was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Gleason, son of the late John and Donnie Hayes Johnson. He was a retired GM auto worker, a member and deacon of Tumbling Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Gleason Masonic Lodge and Gleason Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Ruth McDaniel Johnson of Gleason; one daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Young of Waterloo, Iowa; one stepdaughter, Kathy Don King of Fulton, Ky.; one brother, Doug Johnson of Gleason; one sister, Lena Suddath of Gleason; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
