Preston Knight Sr., 80, a patient at Sunbridge/Summers Landing Nursing Home in Trenton and a resident of Obion County, died at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City Sept. 29, 2007.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, with the Rev. Darrell Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Hornbeak’s Antioch Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home 6-9 this evening.
Pallbearers will be Jason Duncan, Trent Duncan, Jeremy Poyner, Brandon Mathina, Brandon Poyner and Bobby Ashley.
He was born March 27, 1927, in Harrisville, Miss., son of Myra Mae (Fergerson) Knight of Indianola, Miss., and the late O.V. Knight. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a farmer and member of Lakeview Baptist Church near Tiptonville. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the American Legion.
Survivors also include three daughters, Doris Morgan of Iuka, Miss., Myra Brewer of Hornbeak and Rita Duncan of Union City; his son, Preston Knight Jr. of Hornbeak; his sister, Hannah Henderson of Indianola; three brothers, W.B. Knight of Indianola, Virgil Knight of Franklinton, N.C., and James O. Knight of Union City; 10 grandchildren, Greta Poyner, James Brewer and Jason Duncan, all of Hornbeak, Nina Kirk and Corey Morgan, both of Tiptonville, Shannon Lyon of Troy, Michael Morgan of Ridgely and Trent Duncan, Tony Dunn and Angela Seiber, all of Union City; and 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Jewel Knight and Mary Knight.
