Sharon firemen battle blaze.
Four Weakley County fire departments were called to the scene Tuesday after a fire blazed out of control at a home on Sharon Road.
According to Sharon Fire Chief Stacey Bostwick, no one was injured during the incident.
Bostwick said they received the call a few minutes after 10 Tuesday morning and when the department arrived on the scene, the fire was consuming the roof of the home of Clint and Nancy Patterson. The chief cited the cause of the blaze was still under investigation, but it is believed to be electrical in nature apparently starting in the utility room of the house.
Mutual aid was requested from the Dresden, Martin and later, Greenfield, fire departments. Pumper trucks were constantly in route to the nearest water supply under the water tower outside of Sharon in an effort to contain the rural fire.
“We pumped 25,000 gallons of water during the fire,” Bostwick said.
The blaze completely consumed the home and its contents as well as a vehicle located in the attached carport of the structure.
The departments were on the scene until 1 p.m.
Gayle’s Snack Shop is accepting donations for the family. The mailing address is 236 N. Durham Ave., Sharon, TN 38255. Checks can be made payable to Clint Patterson.
