MPD arrests burglary suspects
The Martin Police Department has arrested five Union City individuals in connection with an apparent robbery that was reported early Sunday morning.
According to a press release issued by the department, officers were dispatched to an apartment on East Peach Street in Martin for a report of a stolen wallet, Play Station and DVD’s.
The victim told officers five people gave him a ride home from Cadillac’s Saturday night and requested entry into his apartment. The release states that once inside his home, the victim was reportedly attacked and hit in the head and chest before being robbed.
MPD Inv. Sammy Liles commended the efforts of Inv. Lt. Randal Walker and MPD Ptl. Guy Pryor in the investigation.
MPD officers took Ashley Johnson, 26; Douglas Blakley, 23, Edward Herndon II, 24; Kenneth Moore, 23 and Neiska Moore, all of Union City, into custody. They each face charges of robbery, theft of property, accessory after the fact and assault.
In other news, the MPD has arrested Jacob Hauhe, 29, of Volunteer Trailer Park for allegedly threatening to cause bodily harm to two people while brandishing a knife.
The call stemmed from a fight in progress at the trailer park Friday night. According to a press release, Hauhe was taken into custody without incident and charged with aggravated assault.
An investigation into the burglary of Damron’s Barbecue that occurred during the early morning hours on Friday has the MPD requesting information. Apparently, someone broke into the business and took an undisclosed amount of money.
