Watts has big night
in Ridgemont’s win

Micah Watts ran for 168 yards and two touchdowns to lead Ridgemont to a 30-12 junior high victory over Black Oak Thursday night.
The Mustangs’ stats were reported after deadline and did not appear in Friday’s edition of The Messenger.
Michael Hussey rushed for 40 yards, including a touchdown and a two-point conversion for the victors. Victor Guerrero, who accumulated 53 yards on just three runs, had R’mont’s other TD. A pair of two-point conversions by Linden Scarbrough rounded out the Mustangs’ scoring.
Ridgemont’s next game is Thursday vs. Lake Road at South Fulton.

Red Devils better UC
in prep golf outing

South Fulton got the better of Union City in a prep golf match Thursday that was reported after deadline.
The Devils’ David Shepherd was the day’s medalist with a 37. Chase Mayfield and Justin Cranford each shot 40s, and J.B. Graves came in with a 41.
For UC, Britton Bugg had a 56, Austin Larkin a 60 and Turner Ams a 67.
In girls’ play, Union City’s Katie Potter was the medalist with a 41. South Fulton’s Meaghan Eaves shot a 56 and teammate Audrey Boyd came in with a 58.
Both teams were to be back in action today at The Farms in Dyersburg.

Bethel names assistant
to replace Glen Hayes

Bethel College has a new skipper in charge of the school’s baseball program.
Rusty Thompson, who has served as an assistant for the program for the past seven years, took over the program after Glen Hayes stepped down from the head coaching position recently.
Thompson played four years under Hayes at Bethel and he takes over a team that is coming off a 33-win season.
Thompson also serves as the school’s cross country coach.

South Fulton boosters
will meet Tues. night

The South Fulton Booster Club will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the high school library.
All members and prospective members are encouraged to attend, according to a club spokesman.
