McKenzie, Tenn. — Bethel University Director of Athletics Glenn Hayes announced the West Tennessee War Eagles will play a regular season home game at Wildcat Stadium on July 31. There is a possibility the War Eagles’ scheduled Aug. 14 game could be played at the stadium as well.
The team is a member of the Gridiron Development League and based out of Jackson. The War Eagles’ earlier home games have been played in Jackson.
The War Eagles will host the Huntsville Hurricanes at Wildcat Stadium on July 31 at 7 p.m.
Three former Bethel Wildcats are key members of the War Eagle squad. Kicker Sean Frazier has hit 10-of-13 field goals attempts. His longest was a career best 55-yarder earlier in the season. Punter Luke Roth has averaged 40 yards per punt on the season. Sean McCormick has been a key member of a defensive squad that has allowed only 14 points all year.
Hayes commented, “We are happy to welcome the War Eagles to our campus. I understand it is an exciting product. I am also happy to welcome back three outstanding Wildcats who were key members of our program.”
War Eagle General Manager Ken Williams was thrilled with the chance to play in Wildcat Stadium. “This by far will be the best facility we will have played in all year. We are based out of Jackson, but we want this to be a West Tennessee team as well,” Williams added. “This is a chance for all area fans to come out and support these young men, most of them from right here in the West Tennessee area.”
