Robert Hearn

Robert L. Hearn, 71, died on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Martin Health Care, after a long illness.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Williams' Funeral Home Chapel of Greenfield with Brent Arnold and Dr. Roy Whaley officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mike Biggs, Randy Huffstetler, Mike Medling, Danny Nanney, Tommy Paschall, Tony Paschall, Jay Yeargin and Ronnie Yeargin.

Hearn was born July 22, 1941, on his family farm between Greenfield and Dresden, son of the late George Cox and Brownie Higgs Hearn. He graduated from Greenfield High School in May of 1959. He attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and the University of Tennessee School of Law in Knoxville where he graduated in May of 1965 and then began practicing law with Harold Brundige. He opened his own law practice in Greenfield in June of 1967 and worked in the areas of real estate, estate planning, business contracts, and income tax until his retirement in 2011. He also taught business law at the UTM from 1968 until 2011 earning the rank of full professor. Hearn was a member of the Board of Directors for Greenfield Banking Company where he served as president for several years. He was also Greenfield City Attorney for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Greenfield Church of Christ, a long-time former member of the Greenfield Rotary Club, and took an active role in his community.

He leaves one daughter, Paula Suzanne Hearn Moore, his son-in-law Allen Moore, and his two granddaughters, Mary Katherine Moore and Robbilee June Moore, all of Greenfield.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, George Anna Hearn (Phil) Wehman.

Memorials may be made to Greenfield High School Alumni Association, Dr. Nathan Porter Library and the UTM Retired Accounting Faculty Endowment Scholarship.
