Activity Director

The weather has been fickle, but the activity program has kept right on track.  The residents did spend Friday enjoying the warm front despite the spots of rain.  Many enjoyed ice cream cones that afternoon inspired by the warmer weather.

The cover card winners were Sue Bailey, Opal Pentecost, second, Jane McKnight, Bonnie Carney, Mignon Mayo, Mary Cantrell and Dorothy Larson.  Each of these players received the prize for completing their entire cards first.

For Thursday’s one-line Bingo, each of the participants plays until they Bingo.  They are each allowed the chance at the prize bin filled with a large assortment of goodies.

The sports competitions have continued and have proven to be very competitive.  Bobby Bynum was the first-place finisher of lawn darts with Mag Yeargin as his runner up.  He also took first in horseshoes with Sue Bailey finishing right behind him.  Ray Crowell was the champion of shuffleboard with Barry Flowers in second.  The winner of tallyoop was Leola Rawls.  There was a tie for second place featuring Mildred Turner and Dorothy Larson.  Ray Crowell was the winner of our hockey game with Dorothy Larson finishing second.  Everyone did a marvelous job and these games were close.

The January resident council meeting was held on the third.  There were 13 residents and 7 department heads in attendance.  The meeting is resident led and gives them the opportunity to discuss questions, preferences, complaints and suggestions.  We encourage all the residents who are able to attend to do so and have their voices heard.

The residents had an interesting game of fact or fiction on Wednesday.  This game is trivia minded, but with a fun spin.  It is always interesting to learn new facts.  Each Monday afternoon, the ladies meet for fingernail painting.  They have a ton of colors and designs to choose from and always leave looking great.  Every morning some meet for morning devotional.  It is normally resident lead with prayer, devotion and song.

Bible Union Baptist Church provided our Wednesday evening services.  Macedonia Church of Christ and Dresden First Baptist Church conducted the Sunday morning services.  We are so thankful to these groups for providing such wonderful, spiritual programs that allow our residents to worship with ease.  Bethel Youth Group provided a wonderful song service on Sunday evening.  They always do a terrific job.  Oak Grove Baptist Church of Dresden was so kind to deliver a love offering to our residents.  This money will be used to help residents of need and for the special activity fund.  Sharon First Baptist Church continues to provide a tape of their weekly services for our residents to enjoy.  Thank you all for being so giving and generous.  We deeply appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness.  Published in The Messenger 1.15.13
