| Sanderson to chair House subcommittee |

State Rep. Bill Sanderson, R-Kenton, has been chosen by House Speaker Beth Harwell to serve as chairman of the House subcommittee for state government for the 108th legislative session.
The appointment was announced at the end of the third legislative day on Thursday.
The state government subcommittee will be the first committee to hear proposed legislation that has widespread implications affecting how the state government functions.
Sanderson will be responsible for implementing and administering rules that will direct the committee and its members throughout the session while leading the committee when it convenes to discuss and vote on legislation.
“I am honored to be appointed by Speaker Harwell. I really look forward to serving in this new capacity and I have high hopes for how the committee operates. I am sure we will hear several bills that will be highly debated, but I will do my very best to make sure all sides get to be heard,” he said. “Our taxpayers deserve a state government that will not overspend or overregulate and I feel this is a great committee to serve the people of Tennessee and those from my district.”
This year’s legislative session has seen many changes led by Harwell and the House Republican members. Those changes include the 15 bill limit on legislators and a new committee restructuring.
Sanderson said he supports the new measures to limit regulations and the amount of taxpayer money that is spent on how the state operates.
Sanderson and his wife, Marjie, live in Kenton where he works as a small business owner and farmer. His House district includes Dyer and Lake counties and parts of Obion County.
