Posted: Tuesday, January 8, 2013 8:00 pm

The Mason Hall Family and Community Education Club met recently at the community center.
President Frances Allen welcomed 16 women, five men members, nine visitors and Obion County University of Tennessee Extension agent Benita Giffin.
Mrs. Allen read the thought for the day, “Worrying does not take away tomorrow’s troubles; it takes away today’s peace.”
Betty Luton asked for prayer requests and then offered prayer for all mentioned.
Social services for the past month included the Simpson and Baucom families in Kenton.
Hostesses for the coming year were decided as volunteers chose their month.
Mrs. Allen presented the year-long project list and members commented and agreed. It was noted the Obion County Council was to meet Monday at the Obion County Museum.
The club made plans for members to begin quilting this coming Monday.
There will be a 2013 Leadership in Action “Ingredients for a Successful FCE” meeting for Western Region Family and Community Education members on Jan. 17. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the UT Agriculture Center in Jackson.
Members agreed to contribute to the Hurt family in Kentucky who lost their home.
Mrs. Giffin’s program covered “Tips for Avoiding Telemarketing Fraud” and “Identity Theft.” Each program contained a long list offering members helpful advice.
The club meets the first Thursday of each month offering many opportunites to develop new skills in many areas. Visitors and new members are welcome.
