Health department offering flu shots

Flu season is here, and now so are free flu shots.
The Obion County Health Department is offering free flu shots during regular clinic hours, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
“The Obion County Health Department is working to protect the entire community by providing free flu vaccinations to area residents until vaccine supplies are depleted,” according to a news release.
The health department is located at 1008 Mount Zion Road, just off Everett Boulevard.
“Vaccination is the best protection against the flu, and the Obion County Health Department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that everyone six months of age and older get a flu vaccine every year,” nursing supervisor Jane Adams said.
“It takes about two weeks to be protected after you get the flu vaccine, so we want everyone who hasn’t had their flu shots to get them now.”
Flu shots will be provided at no charge to patients. Adults and children will be vaccinated at the health department. No appointments for flu shots are necessary and patients may walk in for the service.
For more information about the vaccination program, call the health department at 885-8722.
